Iwasaki Takahiro
The "Reflection Model" series of Iwasaki Takahiro are detailed precise wooden-made three-dimensional representations of traditional Japanese architecture. Based on the model of the wooden triple tower of Hokki-ji Temple in Nara, Japan, the artwork accurately represents the details of the architecture, which are unified with its reflection on the surface of the water, creating an unrealistic sense of space and time. The inspiration for such fragile sceneries came from the fact that his home city of Hiroshima was once destroyed by an atomic bomb, these works evoke an actual fact of the city where he still works was 180 degrees transformed from the center of military operation city into City of Peace after reconstruction. Iwasaki's works are closely related to the history of Hiroshima and Japan as well as the current social situation. Through his work, he hopes the viewer will be able to shift their perspective and perceive the fragility of things and the passage of time.
